BRAVOS FC ANNOUNCE MOVE TO BROWNSVILLE SPORTS PARK

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – RGV Bravos FC announced today its intention to play at the Brownsville Sports Park, pending USL approval, at a press conference held at the Brownsville Events Center.

 

Several City of Brownsville officials, as well as BISD members, were in attendance at the press conference in support of Bravos FC’s change of venue.

 

Among those in attendance were City Manager Charlie Cabler, City Commissioner Charlie Atkinson, Sports Park Director Tuffy Martínez, Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau President Mariano Ayala, BISD Athletic Director Tom Chávez and BRASA League President Francisco Lozano.

 

“This is a great move and we’re grateful to the city of Brownsville for inviting us to play at the the Brownsville Sports Park, which is a fantastic soccer-specific facility,” said Kru Kayan Sitsanthaparn, the new owner of Bravos FC. “This is a great opportunity for us, as well as for Brownsville and the Sports Park. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with the city, which has a strong soccer tradition.”

 

The Brownsville Sports Park, which opened in 2008, is a complete sports complex that houses baseball/softball fields, basketball courts, soccer fields and the only soccer-specific stadium in the Rio Grande Valley.

 

Bravos FC played its inaugural 2009 season at Valley View High School’s Tiger Stadium.

 

The Blue-and-Gold also announced that it will play an exhibition match against Barracudas FC, a premier soccer club in Brownsville, at 8 p.m. on April 17 at the Sports Park.

 

Tickets for the first-ever open-to-the-public Bravos FC exhibition match cost $5, and went on sale immediately after the press conference at www.rgvbravos.com and www.mtalliancetx.com/Tickets.html.
